Yes, this is a piece about the beach that was featured in "The Beach," the movie that Leo likes to forget. I can't say that it was a good film (who could?) but, damn, was that scenery gorgeous or what? It's actually pretty easy to visit the Phi Phi islands, where the movie was filmed. It's about a 45-minute ferry ride from Phuket. I had assumed that the place would be crawling with tourists--and it was. But the limestone cliffs that protect the bay and the jungle that shades the white sand are so beautiful that you do indeed feel like you've reached the end of the Earth. The 500 strangers sunbathing on either side of you surely feel the exact same way.
